Account Information: When you create an account, we collect your email address and display name. If you upload a profile picture, that image is stored securely in Firebase Storage with authenticated access controls.
Usage Data: We collect data about your pool participation, pick selections, leaderboard positions, and app interaction patterns to provide and improve the core service.
Device Information: We collect device type, operating system version, and push notification token (with your permission) to deliver notifications and ensure compatibility.
What We Do Not Collect: We do not collect precise location data, health data, contacts, browsing history, or any biometric data.
Your information is used to: (a) provide and operate the App, including pool creation, pick submission, scoring, and leaderboard calculation; (b) display your profile to other members of pools you belong to; (c) send push notifications about pool activity, pick deadlines, score updates, and leaderboard changes; (d) process in-app purchases and manage subscriptions via Apple StoreKit; (e) improve the App, fix bugs, and develop new features; (f) communicate important updates about the service.
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for their marketing purposes. We do not serve ads. We do not build advertising profiles from your data.
Albatross uses the following third-party services, each with their own privacy policies:
Firebase (Google) — Authentication, Firestore database, Cloud Functions, and Firebase Storage for profile pictures and cached data.
Apple StoreKit — In-app purchase processing and subscription management. Purchase history and transaction data are handled by Apple per their privacy policy. We receive transaction confirmations and subscription status but do not have access to your payment method details (credit card numbers, billing address, etc.).
DataGolf — Player statistics, strokes gained data, course-fit projections, and predictive models displayed in the Research tab.
RapidAPI (Live Golf Data) — Live leaderboards, scorecards, player rankings, and tournament schedules.
The Odds API — Betting odds from 40+ bookmakers, displayed for informational and analytical purposes.
Giphy — GIF content search and display in pool chat.
Expo — Push notification delivery service.
We encourage you to review the privacy policies of these services.
Your data is stored securely on Google Cloud Platform via Firebase. We implement industry-standard security measures including:
Encrypted transmission: All data in transit is encrypted using TLS/SSL.
Firestore security rules: Database rules restrict data access so users can only read and write their own data and the pools they belong to.
Authenticated access: Profile pictures and file storage use Firebase Storage with authentication-based access controls.
Server-side validation: Cloud Functions validate picks, enforce deadlines, and calculate scores server-side to prevent client-side manipulation.
While we strive to protect your information using commercially reasonable measures, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.
Subscription and purchase transactions are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We receive transaction confirmations and subscription status from Apple but do not have access to your payment method details (credit card numbers, billing address, etc.). Purchase history is stored in your Apple ID account and can be reviewed in Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions.
With your permission, we send push notifications for: pick deadline reminders, score updates during tournaments, pool invitations, leaderboard changes, and important App updates. You can disable notifications at any time through your device's Settings → Notifications → Albatross, or manage notification preferences within the App's Settings screen.
Messages sent in pool chat are stored in our database and visible to all members of that pool. Chat messages may include text and GIF content. We do not monitor chat content in real time, but we reserve the right to remove content that violates our Terms of Service if reported by other users.
We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. Pool history, pick selections, and leaderboard data are retained for historical purposes and the integrity of completed pools. If you delete your account, we will remove your personal information within 30 days. Anonymized pool data may be retained to preserve the integrity of historical pool results for other members.
